Simon Keenlyside has formally pulled out of the Royal Opera House's forthcoming Il barbiere di Siviglia revival, where he was due to play Figaro (as foretold last week by Greek Oracle, Parsifal).
No, he hasn't come a cropper performing gymnastic routines in highly-polished corridors.
According to the ROH press release he has "received strict orders from his doctor to give his voice complete rest." Hope it's nothing too serious and he's back with us soon.
He will be replaced by Pietro Spagnoli.
