On the day it's confirmed that Lorin Maazel is to take over the reins of the Munich Philharmonic in 2012, the orchestra's outgoing conductor Christian Thielemann shares his memories of the recently-deceased Wolfgang Wagner with Die Welt:
"He was authoritarian, no question. But he could also be very funny. Once, after a Meistersinger performance, I'd showered and wanted to get dressed again, when I suddenly found him in the room. I was naked, he was in a tuxedo. He began to talk about the show. I said "Mr Wagner, I have nothing on". "And?" he said. "I've seen a naked man before". Then he carried on talking."
