The Royal Danish Opera's new Lulu opens on 15 October, marking the first time Eberhard Kloke’s new reconstruction of the unfinished third act will be heard in public. I haven't heard or seen this new score myself, but Berg completed so much it seems unlikely Kloke's version can differ hugely from the familiar Cerha reconstruction. But you never know.
And if that alone doesn't make it worth catching, the director is the brilliant Stefan Herheim.
No production photos at this stage, but Gesine Völlm's costume designs (over the page) suggest a generous makeup budget and hint at how the character doubling will be handled.
