Plácido Domingo comes to Covent Garden in October for two special concerts to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his Royal Opera debut. Here are the details you won't find on the website yet.
The shows are at 7.30pm on Thursday 27 October and 3pm on Sunday 30 October.
The programme has a baritonal timbre - he begins with Rigoletto Act 3, with Ailyn Perez as Gilda and Francesco Meli as the Duke, followed by Simon Boccanegra Act 3 with Paata Burchuladze as Fiesco, and Otello Act 3* with Marina Poplavskaya as Desdemona. Pappano conducts.
Top price is £225, and public sales begin on 5 July, with ROH Friends booking earlier. Tickets will be limited to 2 per person. As usual, a small number of day seats will be available - expect queues to start very early indeed.
*Earlier reports, my own discussions and indeed commonsense (see comments below) indicated that Plácido would be tackling Act 4 of Otello; however all the official ROH publicity material is showing Act 3.
