At least it's only half a minute long.
It might (just) be worth it for the subsequent Harry Hill treatement.

I'm amazed that he still comes off better than KJ, even though she looks born for this kind of thing.
Intermezzo replies - I think it's a case of "who wouldn't?"

Sounds like a case of cruel and unusual punishment... The M.O.D. should add these two to their arsenal of weaponry - enough to beat any enemy into submission.

Being a glutton for punishment I've actually applied for audience tickets for the show.....should be good comedy value :-)

@Faye Maybe we should all go for tickets and be the most unresponsive audience in the history of TV.. slow handclapping the inevitable transposed version of Toreador, and booing the disgusting attempt at Largo al factotum. Do you get a choice of dates?

In light oh his WELL DESERVED standing ovation at last night of "Werther" -21st May( I was lucky enough to be there!) SUCH a pity he continues to denegrate himself in this UTTER twaddle!!

Gosh. What a humourless crowd.
What is wrong with having a bit of fun?
Denigrate himself? Why exactly?
I think a lot of opera lovers need to come down from their high horse of Trojan proportions.
Relax for bunnies sakes.

"humourless crowd" - that's what I think too.
Sometimes I am quite fed up with my fellow opera goers (lovers?) who are sooo narrow-minded.
If RV thinks he should do this show for whatever reason - why not. Nobody is forced to watch it.

@ JM and Chris: Mr. Villazon will have the last laugh - all the way to the bank ...
29 May 2011 at 08:31 AM
The latest show starts filming this weekend and then every Sunday till mid July. You can apply for tickets on the link below and you get a choice of 3 dates.
You need to select "Current shows" and then scroll down to PSTOS.
It would be a lot more fun if the contestants were actually required to sing their arias in the correct key....

Looks like Villazon is flying to Japan to help out the Met in Lucia for one performance during the rehearsal period of Il rè pastore in Zurich. He clearly hasn't learned many lessons from his two career interruptions. Maybe he should recall Callas's refusal to sing Lady Macbeth while rehearsing La traviata at the Met and telling Bing "My voice is not an elevator!".
