The wild bush of curls atop Jonas Kaufmann's head is attracting as many comments as his singing.
But just who could be his hairspiration?
Step forward German Fußball legend Paul Breitner, aka 'Der Afro'.
One of the few players to score in two World Cup finals, Breitner spent most of his career with Kaufmann's local team, Bayern Munich. Jonas would have been a small boy when with West Germany Breitner carried off the 1974 World Cup.
On the pitch, Breitner was a box-to-box tornado, famed for his rocket right foot and ice-cool penalty-taking. Off it, he wasn't afraid to proclaim his interest in Mao, Lenin and Che, nor to read Seneca and Cicero in the original (he studied Latin and Greek at school).
Like Kaufmann, Der Afro was born in Bavaria, and like Kaufmann, his remarkably profuse follicles earned nearly as much attention as his finely-honed skillz.
Here he is promoting air-flow.....
.....covering that stain on the wallpaper......
......and finally, doing what he did best - a superb goal poked in effortlessly from 40m out:
