Only the singers change. Elijah Moshinsky's lavishly-brocaded heritage production of Otello has in its time been graced by the likes of Placido Domingo, Kiri Te Kanawa, Ben Heppner and Renee Fleming.
In the latest revival, which opened last night, the title role was performed by Aleksandrs Antonenko. Anja Harteros was Desdemona, Lucio Gallo was Iago and Antonio Poli Cassio. I will be seeing it later on in its short run.
