Sad news - the composer many of us considered the greatest of his generation died earlier today in Dresden at the age of 86.
The city has just begun a season-long celebration of his work with a scheduled performance this evening of his ballet music Das Vokaltuch der Kammersängerin Rosa Silber accompanied, fittingly for a composer always open to change, by brand new choreography.
