Jonas Kaufmann 'rummages for a hanky' during an extended interview to be broadcast on Radio 3's Music Matters this Saturday at 12.15pm.
*UPDATE* The ROH have published a digested version of the interview.
As Joyce Grenfell might have said. "Jonas, don't do that."

Is that Kasper Holten with a Kaufmann hairdo???

It looks like he's doing something else....picking his nose would have looked better.

I've just discovered this link to Kaufmann singing the Britten/Michelangelo sonnets. I'm bowled over all over again with his voice.

Just trying out Pamina's aria:
"Ach, ich fühl's, es ist verschwunden"
29 May 2014 at 06:58 PM
Verschwunden oder verschwollen?

Why has he got his hands down his trousers? Is he about to be Serviced?
29 May 2014 at 10:57 PM
By a large ginger Tom, it would appear.
But then, which of us hasn't been obliged to rummage for a hanky when Jonas pops up for our delectation?
And he isn't anywhere near as pleased to see us as the ROH is to see him, finally, after two weeks' rehearsal during which they didn't....

I hope you are going to post the audio of the interview, which was very interesting! Here in the US BBC3 radio doesn't allow playback or download, so we get only the one shot at hearing it.
And ditto what Waltraud said!

You can listen to the interview on the BBC iPlayer using the link in the post above. The iPlayer is generally available to UK IP addresses only.
IP addresses are generally linked to your location. So if you are in the UK, your device almost certainly has a UK IP address, and you won't have any problems accessing the audio.
If you are outside the UK and the iPlayer doesn't work, you need to change your IP address to a UK one. You can do this using a proxy switching tool. There are paid ones, which usually work well, or free ones, which can be flaky. You could try 'ProxySwitcher' plug-in, which is a free add on from Mozilla for Firefox users. You will need a specific UK IP address: free-proxy-list.net has some. If the suggested options don't work for you there are plenty of similar ones available.

The radio iPlayer should be available abroad as well, Canada, Spain, Germany seem to have no problem with it, but it's only available for 7 days to listen again. The TV iPlayer is def not available abroad (so for those IP proxy is indeed the best solution).
