The Fairy Queen - English Touring Opera - Britten Theatre, 6 October 2011
There are two ways to tackle Purcell's Fairy Queen. One is, as Purcell intended, musical punctuation to a spoken adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream. The other, which gets you out of the theatre a good couple of hours quicker, is to dispense with the chat and just get on with the music.
