The latest opera to be livestreamed by the Bavarian State Opera is Verdi's Macbeth. Conducted by Massimo Zanetti, it features Zeljko Lucic and Nadja Michael as Lord and Lady M.
Not for aficionados of the puffy short, Martin Kušej's unsettling production features topless bunny girls, dirty underpants and a mass public wee.
The live stream begins at 19:oo (6pm UK time) tomorrow, Saturday 11 May.

Tickets for the latest revival of ENO's La bohème are 50% off with a new Time Out offer.
This brings the dress circle price down to £41.50 and the front upper circle to £31 - but the best bargain has to be the back two rows of the upper circle at £12.50 (no subtitles visible). You won't get anything cheaper than that.
The main drawback with Time Out offers is that you don't find out which seats have been allocated until you pick up the tickets on the night - and £31+ for anything behind the front couple of rows is not a great bargain.

Top price stalls tickets for Michel van der Aa's brand new opera Sunken Garden (libretto by David 'Cloud Atlas' Mitchell) are reduced from £50 to £30 with this TimeOut offer.
As ever with TimeOut deals, you don't get to pick your seat, but the Barbican Theatre layout means you should get a good view from any on offer.
Given the large number of unsold seats, it's possible the Barbican may reduce some prices shortly before each show anyway, but I wouldn't count on this. Free tickets for students at a later date are more likely.

ENO. Half price. Yet another offer.
LondonTheatreDirect.com have a very limited allocation of seats for La bohème, The Barber of Seville and Medea in all areas of the theatre at half price (plus £3 fee).
Ignore the 'save £29' and similar banners on the site, because most of the discounts are even higher. Just pick the number of seats you want for the selected date, and you are shown exactly which seat numbers are available, and how much they cost. Brilliant.
Bear in mind that, as ever, bigger discounts will probably be available on the day at the TKTS booth (availability not guaranteed).

Dress up as a Klingon and get two tickets for the price of one to the 'Klingon Opera' U. The three year old work (for ardent Trekkies only judging by the clip) is headed for its final-ever performance on 23 February.
It's part of the Unmenschliche (inhuman) Musik Festival later this month at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin. Other attractions include Mid Size Robo Soccer Music (Techunited vs. Carpe Noctem) - surely the best composition title ever - generated by two teams of football-playing robots, music in the style of Chopin, Mozart, and Bach composed by computers and played by humans, a sound installation created by 100 electric drills, and an animal music concert where the guests are a box of live crickets.

My blog runneth over with ENO discount deals. Right now they seem even more plentiful than usual - no doubt the recent financial revelations have increased the pressure to fill seats.
The Ambassador Theatre Group are the latest organisation to join the merry band of cut-price ticket providers, with half price offers on the new Peter Konwitschny La traviata and the revival of Jonathan Miller's The Barber of Seville.
All seating areas are included in the offer (even stalls), and all dates after 21 February. Seats are picked for you on a 'best available' basis, but you are shown exactly which seat numbers have been picked before you pay. It appears ATG have been given a limited allocation, as not all areas are available on every night.

People who say there aren't enough open spaces in London obviously haven't visited ENO recently. Help populate this deserted wilderness and get 50% off tickets for "certain performances" of ENO's Medea in the process, using the Guardian Extra code GUARDEXMED.
I haven't been able to test this out because the ENO website won't accept my (compulsory) account details or send me instructions on how to reset them, but reader Richard says he was able to buy discounted stalls seats using the code.
I strongly suspect there will be further and better offers nearer to opening date. However past experience suggests these will probably be restricted to the upper levels. If you want to sit in the stalls, you might not get a better deal.

Half price tickets for ENO's Medea, which opens on 15 February, with this Time Out offer.
The discount is valid for all shows, but only Upper Circle (£50-£55) and second price Dress Circle (£83-£86) seats. As with all Time Out ENO offers, you don't get to pick where you sit - seats are allocated by the box office on the day of the show.
As nearly half the tickets remain unsold, it may be worth waiting to see if better offers turn up later. My guess is that it's extremely likely TKTS will have seats for less than £30 on the day.

Yes, ENO aren't the only opera house having trouble filling seats.
The Royal Opera House is offering a big 10% off any ticket priced above £30 for three productions: Die Zauberflöte, La donna del lago and Don Carlo.
Yes, Don Carlo with Jonas Kaufmann in it.
There's now hardly any availability for the Kaufmann dates, but plenty for the two last shows where Roberto Aronica takes his place. About 10% of seats remain for La donna del lago; Die Zauberflöte has plenty unsold at all price levels.
That's if you can get through of course - the ROH website wouldn't take my payment earlier today, and I know loads of other people have been having problems. I heard an unconfirmed rumour that the new booking system cost the ROH (or rather the taxpayer) half a million quid. If that's true, they've been fleeced.

On Monday 7 January, the Royal Opera House are streaming - all day - what they call "an unprecedented glimpse into life behind the scenes with The Royal Opera."
Although the stream is live, quite a bit of the content will be either pre-recorded or set up specially for the event. So don't expect to see tenors administering the elixir of lurve to sopranos or anything like that.
