We haven't had a cancellation for a few days, have we? Soon sort that out.
An unconfirmed (but widely spread) rumour suggests that the Royal Opera House's July Tosca will be going ahead without its planned star, Deborah Voigt.
Amanda Echalaz and - wait for it - Angela Gheorghiu are currently being floated as replacements. But who knows?
The Royal Opera House are unlikely to announce anything until the subs are lined up. So let's wait and see.
(thanks Michael, T, Sue and Carmel for the tip off)
UPDATE - rumour now (unofficially) confirmed by a very reliable source
It's a Romanian soprano. Not Gheorghiu.

According to her official website, the replacement is Nelly Miricioiu (www.nellymiricioiu.com). Not sure if that's for the entire run though.

I'm laying odds that Bryn Terfel will end up playing a character called Tospia, directed in his efforts by David Fincher..."The first rule about Cancellation Club is that you never..."

If it were Echalaz I would fight for a ticket. Nelly is a bit long in the tooth now.....

I just checked Nelly Miricioiu's website and saw no mention of this. Where did you see this on her website, KM? Am I missing it?
Next thing I see on her schedule is in late August in London, so it seems that she would be free for Tosca at ROH......

It was definitely there yesterday, aviddiva - I saw it after reading KM's comment above. But it's gone now.
Does that mean she's not doing it, or simply that she's been told not to announce it?

Thanks for replying, Steven.
My guess is that ROH wanted it removed from her website until they've confirmed Voigt's cancellation and made the announcement.

Just had an email from the ROH: it's a Romanian double with Gheorghiu on 9, 14, 16 July and Nelly on 11, 18 July.
Ms. Voigt withdrew "due to an attack of acute colitis".

Now Ramon Vargas is ill in Un Ballo, some unspecified illness

John, you're getting your wish: La Draculetta has pulled out of tomorrow's (July 16th) performance due to illness, and Echalaz is the replacement.
