It's official - as confirmed by reader KM, below.
Opera's own answer to the Cheeky Girls, Romanians Angela Gheorghiu and Nelly Miricioiu replace Deborah Voigt in the Royal Opera House's forthcoming Tosca.
Angela takes 9, 14 and 16 July, and Nelly 11 and 18 July.
Ms. Voigt withdrew "due to an attack of acute colitis".
I love the irony of this - Gheorghiu, who has so often gone down with an injury is to save the day as a supersub (along with Nelly of course).
Any chance the ROH would like to continue my footballing train of thought and transfer my Saturday ticket to one of a midweek fixture? Or am I to get up early doors and poach a ticket at the box office?

@hairman: I've had the same thoughts, firstly thinking if I can swap, then thinking about a very early start with a camping stool :(

$100-Q: Will Angie cancel only one show?

Woo-hoo!
Missed out on Anna at the RFH but [all appendages crossed] get to see Angela.
Now if the only the front row of the Upper Slips could just refrain from leaning right over the fingerboards this time...

There are tickets available for the Tosca rehearsal on July 7 at 11am - for Friends and nightworkers...

Let´s imagine: Angela, due to accute "illness", has to cancel two of her three performances and Nelly, soprano-superwoman as she ever is, jumps in and rescues the ROH! What an irony, because she was neglected such a long time by exactly this opera house! She didn´t sang there for ages even though she lives in London since almost thirty years now... it seems that Nelly finally gets what she really deserves. She is a top-notch soprano and you grant this nobody but her!!!
