Festive gifting continues into the new year, as the Bavarian State Opera stream a couple of their performances live online - for free.
On 7 January at 7pm (6pm UK) David Bösch's L’elisir d’amore offers a rare opportunity to catch Pavol Breslik scaling a lamp post in his underpants whilst despatching Una furtiva lagrima.
Then on 22 January at 5pm (4pm UK) there's a brilliantly-cast revival of Jürgen Rose's ageing but sturdy Don Carlo, with Jonas Kaufmann, René Pape, Mariusz Kwiecien and Anja Harteros.
Full details on the website 'later'.
That's a nice lap[top] dog!

I have a friend who was v disappointed not to be able to get tickets to Don Carlo...so it's great( and a slight consolation) to be able to watch it online...

Yes, yes, yes to both of these!
The DC should be the performance of the season!

Looking at your review from last year and at the BSO link for this production: did they photoshop clothes onto the heretics? Or do the clothes come off during the act? Or are they not actual people? (I can't tell from the photo). It seems odd to take a curtain call in front of a bunch of naked people, if that's what is happening in the picture from the performance you reviewed. Whatever, I am SO looking forward to this!

Intermezzo replies - they're dummies (this is not a Bieito production......)
