Recorded at the weekend; a preview of what Vittorio Grigolo may be getting up to on Friday, when the latest revival of Rigoletto opens at Covent Garden.
(With thanks to Kyoko).
daddy I want a harpsichord
Flirting with old women in the public while singing La Donna e Mobile is not a good mix...

If he turns up, that is...

Us "old women" are (in)famous for being grateful - though Sig. Grigolo would not be my choice of serenader!

Indeed, he has already cancelled the performance I booked for the 4th.

Ewwwwww - I have an instinctive antipathy towards Grigoletto (and his eyebrows) which this does not help to alleviate in any way. Where was it taken? And why did he need the zit microphone?
I saw him at the Rigoletto rehearsal and I swear he has new costumes - poor Gilda has to make do with the white gown and the cross dressing suit, while Vittorio is lavishly garbed in colourful satins (and an optimistic codpiece with his all-red ensemble).
I am sure lots of ladies of all ages love him, but I doubt anyone loves him more than himself.

Well said Manou! Tie his arms up and he'd be speechless. I was rather hoping he'd cancel and make room for Stefan Pop who sang for him the other day when he couldn't be bothered to turn up.

From last October's Faust I mostly remember the curtain call. He and Angela trying to out-diva each other whilst on the side Pape and Hvorostovsky smiling rather amused at their antics. Grigolo, the opera world needs you!!

I don't like the timbre of his voice. I find him a mediocre. He must have a good manager.

Did anyone else find that crack toward the end to be a little ominous?

Do you mean you actually listened until the end?

After hearing Grigoleto, I returned my ROH ticket for the April 7 performance. ROH, give us Stefan Pop, pleeeeease.
