Above, here's Angela Gheorghiu and new best friend Cezar Ouatu putting a new slant on the Barcarolle from Les contes d'Hoffmann for Romanian TV.
Below, Angela tackles Handel with the aid of Cezar's expert fingering skills.
daddy I want a harpsichord
I wish I had a lover 14 years younger! I hope he's not with her only to profit from her fame and connections.
By the way, I love their Barcarolle; Angie will probably go on to enrich her concerts with soprano-mezzo duets, getting into Barcarolle, The Flower Duet, etc.

Barcarolle understudied, and a little out of pitch at the end. Is it time Angela starts singing "This is my life" for the european audience?

"I hope he's not with her only to profit from her fame and connections."
No..... surely not.....
One things for sure though - he ain't givin her piano lessons.

Completely agree with you about the lover and I wish her all the happiness while it lasts, but I didn't like the Barcarolle at all. Both out of tune and sounding strained. And all this waving of his arms und grimacing gives him a slightly demented look.

And what would be the point of that anyway?
This is a woman who'd probably have a memory lapse trying to sing "Three Blind Mice"....

There's a memory lapse in the Handel at around 3:50 - she isn't looking at the music and ends up singing the second half of the B section again. There's an odd harmonic clash and she starts looking over his shoulder - then he just follows her lead and they end in a minor key! Nice dress, though.

I didn't realize until 0:29 in the 'Lascia' clip exactly whose large picture was prominently featured in the background but this is all under the benificent gaze of the grand and magnificent Maestro Bocelli. That sums it all up.

Of all Angela's really bad versions of Lascia ch'io pianga, this is definitely the worst!!
But perhaps I should not be so harsh on her, after all, she has only been singing it professionally before the public for about 20, 25 years.
