On sale in Seattle Opera's online gift shop - Ring merch with a difference. On top of the 'giant' baseball cap, you can find a teddy bear dressed as Wotan, slogan Ts and even a Xmas ornament. Beats a CD any day.
daddy I want a harpsichord
Ha, I was just tweeting about this last night. So far I've walked past the t-shirt stand three times and resisted but I'm sure I'll break down eventually. There's also a "Götterdämmitslong" t-shirt this year, and you can get Fasolt & Fafner branded tape measures too. Not to mention a huge amount of sword, mermaid and dragon merchandise, and even wooden walking staffs for that Wanderer look. Definitely the best opera house gift shop I've ever visited.

They should have a tee-shirt proudly declaring "I love my sister". And a Mime cookbook.
Meanwhile, back at the ROH, the hot gegaws for the bling-crazed oligarchs and their bored tarts making up much of the audience for the Bolshoi's residency consists of strange-looking silver-mounted crystal things looking disconcertingly like cat-turds in quartz.
Oh, and in case things were going a little sedately thus far, the ballerino doubtless accidently kicked the ballerina in the shins necessitating her - Maria Alexandrova - limping off at the start of La bayadere's Act II grand pas d'action and much on-the-hoof improv and cutting thereafter, with a mere chorine left to do the closing fouettés which were going great guns until she fell over. Ah, culture!

Great! That's my Christmas present problem solved at a stroke. Seattle sells non-Wagnerian merchandise too - "So Many Women, Only One Don" and "It's All About Mimi" t-shirts ...

Hopefully the buyer for the ROH shop will look at these products. Almost every other similar venue in London has shops that offer a varied range of goods designed to tempt every type of visitor to buy. Not the Opera House, no wit or humour, all they offer is kitsch, sparkly, overpriced and badly displayed stuff.

Is Teddy-Wotan wearing a genuine wolfskin cape?
