If you balked at the prices of the Berlin Philharmonic's London concerts, you can get to hear Simon Rattle for a lot less in Birmingham next year.
On Sunday 11 May 2014 he conducts the CBSO in a special charity concert to support the CBSO Benevolent Fund. Tickets are £20 to £50 and go on sale on 19 December (17 December for CBSO Friends).
Actually, I didn't think the prices for the RFH concerts were that bad: the side stalls (what used to be the Annexe) for example were £25. Not cheap, obviously, but not that expensive either: compare with the Keith Jarrett concert earlier this year, where the side stalls (and practically everywhere else) were £60. Now that is expensive!

Intermezzo replies - The only side stalls seats that were £25 were the small number on the back row, where the acoustic is compromised by the overhang and the legroom is non-existent. The bulk of tickets were £50 and up. That's a wallet shock to anyone used to paying £10-ish to hear the London orchestras.
