Sunday 8 June is the date for the first of this year's Glyndebourne not-quite-livestreams.
Der Rosenkavalier can be seen on the Glyndebourne and Daily Telegraph websites (free), and in cinemas (£££). The live show begins at 3.20pm but the streaming doesn't start until 4.30pm so that home audiences are spared most of the extended dinner interval.
The Telegraph stream will presumably feature an airbrushed Ms Erraught?

Why on earth does the Glyndebourne ad have a baritone singing "Libiamo nei lieti calici"?

Just wondered, Intermezzo - are you no longer reviewing performances you have attended?
I used to enjoy your opinions, even if not always agreeing.

I am incredibly busy these days, working all day and out most nights, and generally just don't have time. It's not just a question of knocking out a few words - there are facts to be checked, photos to be sourced, edited and uploaded, and it all takes longer than you might think. There are several on my backburner (including this Rosenkavalier) that I'd like to get round to, but probably won't.

I understand IM, I write reviews of performances I attend just for private circulation, even that takes a long time but if it was for publishing publicly I would want to do a lot more work on them. I am retired, I certainly could not do it if I was working full-time like you are.
But like Adrian I always enjoyed reading your reviews and miss them. I hope you will be able to find time for a few.

You are truly the spiritual heir of Mae West, who, when taxed as to her activities, replied
"I'm just a girl who works at Paramount all day and Fox all night"

Totally understand your time pressure, IM - I was always amazed that you could find time to review so many things! - but perhaps in lieu of reviews you could provide a page for new shows at the Royal Opera and ENO etc where readers could share their impressions? Perhaps even you might be persuaded to share your views in a more informal way? You've always been the best opera reviewer in the UK and I for one miss your brilliant analyses.

Agree with John. It's shameful I know, but I skip most of the foreign stuff on your blog. What I used to like were your reviews of the home-grown.

here are some mini reviews to keep you going until the proper stuff comes !
Benvenito Cellini - bloody brilliant
Tosca - who on earth booked him to conduct
Manon Lescaut musically good - dire production that looks like it was made for another opera/show entirely
Der Rosenkavalier (streamed - until i got bored) everything you have come to expect and seen before from Richard Jones
Quartet potty mouthed - mini opera
