Just in case your appetite for Covent Garden's La bohème is not fully sated, Travelzoo have a half price ticket offer for July performances.
Stalls seats for matinee shows are 'only' £95 (a saving of up to 50%) with the code tzooboheme (case sensitive). Dates applicable are Sunday 13 July (12pm) and Saturday 19 July (2pm).
This is the last chance to see John Copley's production before it finally bows out in 2015.
And is replaced by a production set in a car park...with wallpaper

Why on earth do you think that Richard Jones would set 'La Boheme' in a car park?

Next year will be the last chance to see Copley's production. A new one is scheduled for 2017.

Isn't the final farewell next season with Trebs? If she shows of course....

So at least you concede there will be acres of wallpaper?
His Bregenz Bohème was remarkable, all set on a giant bistro circular metal-edged table in the - wait for it - 1950s (surprise, surprise!). I wonder what Mimi will be dying from?

The threads rubric should actually read
"the last chance to see John Copley's production before the last chance to see John Copley's production next time. Which will then be the last time to see John Copley's production."
Unless the ROH do an ENO/Rigoletto on it, horrified at the cost of all that wallpaper.....

Boredom I imagine - especially if she's a follower of your posts on here...

goodie I can do La Boheme in the morning and Ariadne in the evening - I did wonder why Ariadne was a 7pm start !

Is it true that the 15 July performance will be broadcast live on Youtube? The ROH website mentions only public squares in the UK, nothing about Youtube. Thanks!

There seems to be plenty of wallpaper in sight for the Richard Jones production of "Ariodante" at Aix. Acres of naff Handelian(?) wallpaper will probably be the least of Ariodante's problems given the presence of "intermittents" (presumably the 20% who elected for strike action)serenading the opera-going public with saucepans and vuvuzelas!

I do think this poster (Justin) has a serious case of tourette's.
But anyway, IM where art thou!?

I can report a sighting of the lesser-spotted Intermezzo at the HOP The Turn Of The Screw last Thursday...

Sorry OHP, of course.

Having an intermezzo?
Your fans miss you, IM. I hope your silence only indicates business and nothing more grave.

I wonder if that Maria Stuarda production has left her speechless.
Posted by: Andres | 09 July 2014 at 03:24 PM
Was it that bad??????
Posted by: John | 10 July 2014 at 09:42 PM
Oh dear me yes.
Not what I would term either a properly professional standard of stage design or direction, especially the former, indescribably ugly, irrelevant and cheap-looking.
Posted by: SJT | 11 July 2014 at 12:50 PM
yes - it was ! as good a round of boo-ing as I have ever heard !
Posted by: amac | 11 July 2014 at 01:44 PM
I did not care much for the staging either, although I have seen worse things, but the singing was so wonderful it did not spoil my enjoyment too much.
